Impressive, a must see in Iceland. If it’s on a sunny day like when I was there even better as the color of the water is amazing. Parking in the area and a nice walk round the crater is possible and recommended
Easily accessible from the road. For a small entrance fee an easy climb affords you amazing views of the crater and surrounding area. Walk around the rim towards the entrance and if you’re lucky enough to be able to sit on the two seater bench at the water’s edge, take a few moments absorb the beauty of the location.
There isn’t a part of Iceland that isn’t amazing but this is just like every other place, you have to see it with your eyes it’s so amazing to see pictures don’t do it justice!
A volcanic crater with easy access (just beside the road). You need to get tickets to enter and you can walk around and all the way down to the middle of the crater. When we visited, during the winter, water was frozen and we could stand on it (but be very careful). We could also hear our voices echoing there 😅 Overall a worthy visit and we enjoyed it.
An amazing creation of nature. The crater is filled with water and gives a beautiful view from the top. Do not forget to go down to the lake as well. You could also walk around the lake. There is a very small entrance ticket to be purchased as this is located in a private land. But it was well worth it.
Cool spot where a volcano sunk into the earth! Very calm and serene atmosphere. Water was a nice warmth in mid June. Great views from up top. We walked down the stairs; 139 in total with inclines in between as well. Great pictures halfway down the stairs where you get a balcony type view. At the bottom there were cool/unique views. It was worth the trip.
